Breeding Bulls

BREEDING BULL GUARANTEE

Bulls 15 months and older will be sold with a passing breeding soundness evaluation.

Young bulls must not be permitted to run with cows until they are at least 14 months of age. A bull that settles a cow by natural service and passes a breeding soundness exam performed by a licensed veterinarian will be considered a breeder.

If a bull (after 15 months of age) fails to prove a natural breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders and free of venereal disease - and fails a vet performed breeding soundness exam; the buyer shall report in writing to the seller and provide a report of a complete examination by a licensed veterinarian. The bull must be in acceptable condition at the time of testing, as determined by the attending veterinarian. This notification shall be provided by the buyer to the seller no later than six months following the date of purchase, or six months after the bull has reached 15 months of age, whichever is the latter. The buyer shall return the bull to the seller (at the buyer's expense) in satisfactory body condition. A full refund of the purchase price will then be provided. In instances where return is not feasible, the seller will refund the purchase price, minus salvage value. Under no circumstances is the seller responsible for more than the purchase price of the bull.

Bulls must not be kept alone, except during quarantine. They must have at least one other bovine pen mate.

Injuries, accidents, disease, gross negligence or willful misconduct are not applicable under this guarantee. No guarantee is made or implied as to the freezing ability of the bull's semen.

SEMEN INTEREST

Bulls will be sold on a restricted semen contract, meaning the buyer may not collect semen for sale. This means:

  1. The buyer MAY NOT collect semen on the bull to sell or give away.

  2. If the buyer wishes to collect semen on the bull as an insurance policy for use solely within their own herd, that semen is 100% theirs. The buyer may also produce embryos with said semen with cows they own.

  3. The buyer has full possession and salvage value of the bull.

  4. The buyer has the right to do what they would normally do with a bull that does not have restricted semen interest.

  5. If the buyer sells the bull, they receive all the revenue - but the restricted semen contract persists with the new and any subsequent owners.
